TDMA Wellness

Frequently Asked Questions

DIRECT PRIMARY CARE FAQ

  • DPC is a relatively new healthcare model in which patients receive high quality, comprehensive care from an experienced provider for a low, flat monthly fee. DPC providers often have smaller patient panels and more availability for same day or next day care.

DPC offers transparent pricing, eliminating the “middleman;” We welcome patients who prefer a cash-pay model of care. This allows for a transparent and convenient alternative to traditional healthcare and insurance. Our providers can focus on providing personalized and exceptional care, without the hassle of insurance paperwork.

Our goal is to put you, your needs, and your health first, whether you have insurance or not. Come and meet us, experience the difference in this patient-centered approach.

  • At TDMA Wellness, our goal is to be there when you need us. Through the membership, we offer same day and next day appointments and are careful to allow enough time to effectively support your needs. We want to spend time focusing on you, your health history, your concerns, and your preventative care.

We understand that managing your health can be overwhelming at times. With TDMA Wellness DPC, you will have 24/7 access to our online communication platform, and the ability to call or text medical or care coordination questions as needed. We can help you to manage acute and chronic health care conditions and can perform simple diagnostics and lab tests in our office for a small additional charge. We have an established relationship with several labs and pharmacies to provide you low-cost care and wholesale prices.

If you have an emergency or a medical issue that cannot be managed by our providers, we will refer you to the appropriate provider. All our DPC providers are from the area and are familiar with specialists in town. Often, we have worked closely with them in the past! We will work closely with your team of specialists to make sure there is communication and continuity of care, and we will stay in touch with you, answering questions and advocating for you along the way.

  • The monthly fee for an individual is $100/month. We also have discounted rates for couples, families, and small businesses. We feel that this is a small price to pay for a personalized and timely level of care that you can’t get anywhere else. The membership fee covers how care is delivered (preventative and routine appointments, same-day or next-day more urgent appointments, and care coordination and support). It does not cover hospital services, emergency services, surgery or related surgical services, radiology services or third-party services and laboratory services. However, because of our established relationships with laboratories, pharmacies, and local resources, it is our goal to provide you with reasonable prices, low-cost options, minimizing your out-of-pocket medical expenses. Because of this, your DPC membership fee may often pay for itself!

  • While we will absolutely care for patients who do not have insurance, we recommend that everyone have some form of insurance to cover large, out-of-pocket, unforeseen, or emergent situations. However, it may be that with DPC membership, you can switch to a high deductible health plan that costs less per month. We are happy to help you look at your options and needs, so you can make the best decision for you.

  • It is our mission to always provide you with the most up-to-date, innovative, safe and thoughtful care. As a staff, we invest heavily in training to learn new skills and techniques. We strive to stay informed of the most relevant, evidence-based healthcare. Our business was built on person-centered care, and we promise to approach each client with curiosity and compassion and to advocate for your best interest when it comes to your health.

  • Right now, TDMA Wellness only offers routine care to adults over the age of 18. If the child of one of our members needs care, we can often help to direct them to an appropriate resource in the area. We do offer sports physicals and occasional urgent care to the children of our members, but this is determined on a case by case basis.

  • Separate from our DPC membership, the providers at TDMA Wellness are excited to offer additional services including hormone optimization and weight management support. In both of our offices, we have highly trained nurses and aesthetic staff that offer a wide array of aesthetic and wellness services. If you’re interested or want more information, we can set you up with a no-cost consult with one of our amazing aesthetic staff.

  • We understand that choosing a medical provider is an important personal decision. At your first appointment, we will get to know you – we want to understand what you are looking for, your concerns, your history and your goals for the future. If it feels like we are a good fit, and you choose to join TDMA Wellness DPC, we will review your medical histories and discuss next steps. If you are due for screenings or labs, we can set this up during your first appointment. After your appointment and with your permission, we will take the next several days to obtain your pertinent medical records. We can set up a more comprehensive visit in the coming weeks to review results, perform a comprehensive exam, and create a wellness plan that works for you. We can review your medication history, discuss any recommended changes, and send updated, renewed, or new prescriptions to your pharmacy of choice.

Because TDMA Wellness is membership-based, we have a lot of flexibility in how we deliver your care. We can meet for one long visit or several shorter visits, whichever works best for your schedule, so we can get to know and support you and all your healthcare needs and goals.

HORMONE OPTIMIZATION FAQ

  • The body’s hormones act as the communicators between cells. They affect growth, metabolism, and reproduction; and they play a key role in how we expend energy and regulate our bodies. It is typical for some hormone levels to fluctuate throughout our various life cycles. However, as we age, the overall function of our endocrine system declines, creating hormone imbalances that may affect our overall health and wellbeing.

Hormone imbalances may cause weight loss or weight gain, decreased libido (sex-drive), constipation, fatigue, and urinary incontinence. These imbalances may also increase your risk for more serious diseases like osteoporosis, insulin resistance, cognitive dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, and genitourinary syndromes. Hormone optimization aims to correct these imbalances, thus improving symptoms and reducing the risk for these preventable chronic diseases.

  • As with all our services, we will strive to get to know you. We will review your full medical history and any symptoms you may be experiencing that could be associated with a hormone imbalance. We will discuss your nutrition, sleep habits, exercise habits, as well as your current supplement and medication regimen.

We will order a full set of labs, including a basic screening panel as well as a full review of your hormone levels. Once we have received these results, we will set up a follow up appointment with you to explain our findings, allow you to ask any additional questions or to discuss related concerns. We will discuss our recommendations, which may include bio-identical hormone therapy, oral supplements, and lifestyle changes and will work with you on how best to implement them.

After we have reviewed our findings and recommendations with you, we will prescribe any medications or supplements. We can also connect you with local resources for exercise therapy, nutrition support, etc. We will follow up with you in 3 months, or sooner if needed, to track your progress and discuss any questions or concerns.

By getting to know you and providing a thorough review of your health history and labs, It is our hope that we can support you in meeting your goals, minimizing uncomfortable symptoms and improving your overall health!

  • No, hormone optimization is separate from our DPC services. Patients that are enrolled in the DPC membership through TDMA Wellness do not have to pay the $100 initial consult fee typically required for a hormone optimization consultation. DPC members also pay a reduced fee for hormone optimization follow up appointments.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT FAQ

  • We understand that managing one’s health is a lifetime commitment and that often there are many factors which contribute to overall wellness. We are committed to creating informed and respectful treatment plans for all our patients. Treatment plans may include goal setting, lifestyle education, nutrition counseling, or weight loss medication.

  • At your first visit, you can expect that we will spend time getting to you know you, your goals and lifestyle. We will get a full medical history and will spend time discussing your nutritional quality, sleep habits, physical activity, past and current stressors, and anything else that may affect your overall goals. If you have not already done so, we will order an updated set of labs so we can look for any additional factors which may affect your weight loss goals.

Once we have the appropriate information, we will help you to create a safe and effective plan. If we choose to start weight loss medication, we will work with our pharmacy partners to arrange payment and delivery. At this time, we will also schedule your follow-up appointments to closely monitor your nutrition and progress.
